SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Cullen Munson scored his first career goal as a Sioux City Musketeer, but it wasn't enough as the Muskies fell 3-2 to their I-29 rivals from Sioux Falls.
Munson's goal was the highlight of a near perfect first period of by Sioux City, as the squad outshout Sioux Falls 8-0 in the first 14 minutes of action.
The Stampede were out-shot 11-4 heading into the first intermission.
In the second period CJ Franklin provided the equalizer before teammate Victor Bjorkung gave the Stampede a 2-1 advantage with less than a minute to play in the second.
Michael Kapla tied the game up a two with a goal at the 3:33 mark of the third period, but Matt VanVoorhis provided the game winner on a shot that would eventually bounce over goalie Connor Girard.
Sioux City is back on the ice Tuesday to battle Tri-City.
