Parade proposal proves couple has the luck of the Irish

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

One lucky girl's dreams came true on this lucky day at Sioux City's St. Patrick's Day parade.

Lauren Hassebroek's boyfriend, Scott Ernster, was on The Chesterfield's float, and as the float passed by her in front of the Promenade Cinema; Scott held a sign that said "Lauren, WIll You Marry Me?"

He ran to her and after she agreed, another sign was revealed saying, "I Said Yes!"

"Glad she wouldn't expect it.. It was a clever way of doing it," said Scott Ernster.

When asked how she was feeling, Hassebroek replied, "Ecstatic!"

And whether she was expecting the proposal or not, "Yeah, I am so surprised," exclaimed Hassebroek.

The couple says the plan to wait at least another year before the big day.
