SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Ten years ago, a bronze bust of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Junior was installed in front of Sioux City's transportation center.
Now, a group of residents wants to erect more statues in that area, to honor those who've made a difference in the community.
The Diversity Sculpture Park will feature statues representing those who've advocated for veterans, the homeless, women, children, Latinos, Native Americans, and more.
"There are people right here in Siouxland that have really had an impact on individuals, had an impact on our city, had impact on policy," said Flora Lee, of the Celebrating Community Foundation.
The group is privately raising about $530,000 for the sculpture park, which is scheduled to be finished during the summer of 2014.
