The Cyclones react during their watch party.
AMES, Iowa (KTIV) -
The Big 12 Conference has six squads in the field of 64, including Iowa State.
The Cyclones earned a 5 seed and will play Gonzaga, a 12 seed, in the first round.
It will be the programs 7th straight appearance in the Big Dance, and 14th overall as a program.
All tournament berths have come under Head Coach Bill Fennelly.
He says the Cyclones tough road schedule this season has prepared the team for the tourney.
"We play a lot of tough road games, that's what the tournament is about. 15 of the 16 sites, somebody is playing at home. I think that's good for the event, good for the tournament."
"It's exciting just to be able to say that I was able to play on in the NCAA for all four years that I was here with some great teams."
The game tips off at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
Nebraska and Creighton are also in the NCAA Tournament.
The Huskers are a 6 seed and drew Chattanooga in the first round.
The Bluejays earned a 10-seed and play 7th seeded Syracuse.
