VERMILLION, S.D. (KTIV) -
A memorial service will be held Tuesday night for a Vermillion, South Dakota teen who drowned while trying to save her little brother.
Madison Wallace, 16, died Thursday after she jumped in the Big Sioux River in Sioux Falls. She was trying to rescue her 6 year old brother Garrett who had been climbing on the rocks in Falls Park.
Garrett survived, but authorities say Madison was swept away by the cold, foamy water. A passerby, 28 year old Lyle Eagletail also tried to save the two by jumping in the river, but he also drowned.
A memorial service for Madison Wallace is scheduled for 7pm Tuesday, March 19 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Vermillion. It's located at 20 Mickelson Drive. Viewing will be held from 5pm until 7pm.
Funeral services for Wallace will be held Friday, March 22nd in Utah.
A memorial fund has been set in her name at Wells Fargo Bank. If you'd like to donate ask for the Madison Wallace Family Fund. For more information click here.
