EARLY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Authorities say 21-year-old Kirk Levin killed his mother, 45-year-old Marilyn Schmitt.

They say her body was found in a home west of Early while deputies were investigating a reported kidnapping.

That victim, Jessica Vega, told police Levin came to her home in Storm Lake to ask her for a ride, then tied her up and put into a car.

She was able to later escape.

Levin's trial was originally set for next month but has been moved to June.
