Lots of tears and hugs Tuesday night in Vermillion, South Dakota as family and friends said goodbye to Madison Wallace. The 16-year-old died last week while trying to rescue her six-year-old brother after he fell into the Big Sioux River in Sioux Falls. A memorial service celebrated Madison's life. Her mother says she loved playing the French horn, her family, and God.
Three people are accused of making fake money and tossing it out a car window during a police chase that started in North Sioux City, South Dakota. The chase ended on West 18th Street in Sioux City. Authorities say the three fled in a pickup truck down I-29 Monday night when officers investigating the production of counterfeit U.S. currency served a search warrant. Alison Daugherty, Shaun Wakefield, and Brandon Miller face forgery charges.
The contributions of the American farmer are celebrated on the Temme Dairy farm near Wayne, Nebraska. Governor Dave Heineman was among the dignitaries on hand Tuesday for the event in conjunction with National Agriculture Week. Heineman says it's an exciting time for the agriculture industry, and farmers will need to be ready to feed more than two billion more people over the next 30 years.
Siouxlanders get a closer look at a proposed hiking and biking trail that would link Sioux City and Le Mars, Iowa. At an open house Tuesday, people had their questions answered about the Floyd River Valley Trail study. Two alternate proposals call for a route on county roads on either side of Highway 75. A third option is a 26-mile trail along the highway. The next step is to form a trail association.
