NEAR SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KTIV) -
Governor Dennis Daugaard has signed a bill that provides $4 million to improve three parts of South Dakota's state park system, including one in Siouxland.
Two million dollars would go for construction at the new state park being established at the Blood Run Nature Area along the Big Sioux River.
The 600 acre site southeast of Sioux Falls was designated a national historic landmark in 1970.
It was used by thousands of Oneota Indians into the early 1700s.
The entire Blood Run site could eventually encompass some 1,400 acres in South Dakota and Iowa.
