Eddie Pertilla had 145 receiving yards in the Bandits' 62-56 victory over Bloomington.
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- -
The Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) has selected the first Players of the Week in league history. The CPIFL completed Week 2 this past weekend with all ten teams in action and eight out of the ten teams playing in their first game of the season.
The Offensive Player of the Week is Sioux City Bandits wide receiver Eddie Pertilla. Pertilla accounted for 145 receiving yards out of the 173 total yards through the air that the Bandits gained in their 62-56 victory over the Bloomington Edge. Pertilla caught five passes and he converted all of them into touchdowns. The touchdowns were 43, 22, 34, 5, and 41 yards in length.
The Bandits had a makeshift offensive line because of injuries and Pertilla says they deserve the credit.
"Brian Okonofua, being the only lineman out of the starters that lasted, and Thomas Wells and Darius Davis who stepped up, I was just the recipient of all their hard work," said Pertilla. "I just did what I usually do, catch the ball. If there's a hero of the game, or someone who had a spectacular performance, it would be those guys."
The Bandits open their home schedule on Friday night against the Kansas City Renegades at 7:05 PM.
