SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Sequestration has put a hold on a decision that could require homeowners in Sioux City's Leeds neighborhood to have flood insurance.
Last month, the city of Sioux City held public meetings for home and business owners.
FEMA says if the Floyd River channel's flood gates were forced to close, water could collect outside the levee, and cause flooding.
FEMA is expected to come and hold their own public meetings.
But, those meetings have been delayed because FEMA officials are unable to travel due because of mandatory cuts that come following sequestration.
Sioux City officials say they hope to hear from FEMA in the next couple of weeks about when they make be able to come to the area and talk to the public.
