Somebody stole a Siouxland school's show choir gear while they were taking a trip to California.

Teachers from Westwood Community Schools, in Sloan, Iowa, say it happened in L.A., Saturday night.

A crook made off with the truck and trailer carrying a drum set, guitars, sound equipment and apparel. Kids had just used the stuff earlier that day to perform in a competition.

Folks are relieved no one was hurt.

"The kids are all safe. Nothing has happened to any child. When you are on a trip that's the main worry, that nothing happens to anyone," said vocal teacher, Tom Gerking.

The district filed a police report on the theft Sunday morning.

Teachers estimate the loss is in the 10's of thousands of dollars.

The group will be headed back to Iowa, Monday night.
