Winnebago, NE man sentenced for assaulting federal officer

Posted:

A 26-year-old Winnebago Nebraska man will spend a year behind bars, after he assaulted a federal officer.

In June, police arrested Landon Blackdeer.  Authorities say Blackdeer got free of his handcuffs and tried to escape when the officer opened the door to the vehicle.

There was a brief struggle as the officer tried to control Blackdeer.

During that time, Blackdeer punched and elbowed the officer several times in the face and body.
