Council gives developer "green light" to build on annexed land
This land on Christy Road is now zoned for families.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Siouxland families could soon have another new place to live.
The city council approved a zoning change on Monday that will make land in the 7000 block of Christy Road, in Sioux City's Sunnybrook neighborhood, ready for homes. The land, owned by John Dolphin, was first annexed about a month ago.
When it was outside of the county, it was only usable for farmland. Now, after the annexation into the city, the lots will be fit for families to live in.
"He can start. The utilities are in, the lots are ready for development. The RS-70 zoning allows for residential units. So, he can proceed forward with selling those lots and building can begin," said Jeff Hanson, Community Development Operations Manager for the city of Sioux City.
Hanson says the lots are already being marketed for sale.
