Final hurdle cleared for new Walgreens on Sioux City's west side
City leaders say construction could begin on this new Sioux City Walgreens as soon as the weather clears up.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
City leaders cleared the latest hurdle to allow developers to build a Walgreens on Sioux City's west side.
The city council approved a resolution that would put the nearly 15,000 square foot facility on the corner of Hamilton Boulevard and West 19th Street.
In the agreement, Semper Development Ltd. will make an old alleyway part of their storefront. The company will also fix up parts of the street to allow traffic to flow in, and out, easily.
City leaders say the Minnesota-based group has worked hard to make these plans a reality
"There are some traffic concerns there. There's a lot of traffic there, that's why they want to be there. They do have to address that and I think they've done that in their plan and now they've got the green light," said Marty Dougherty, economic development director for the city of Sioux City.
Dougherty says he hopes that the work on the new site can begin once the weather clears up.
