Camp High Hopes is preparing for its first summer with campers with an open house and registration. The camp, located off of Correctionville Road near Sioux City's Bacon Creek park, is the only one of its kind in western Iowa.

Camp High Hopes is for children, teens and adults with disabilities. It offers accessible indoor facilities and outdoor program areas with opportunities for archery, fishing as well as arts and crafts.

An open house is planned for Saturday, March 30th from 1 to 4pm. Executive Director Ali Langseth said it's a chance for families to see the camp first hand and learn about the opportunities available for their son or daughter.

Johnathan Mauk, the camp's director, said the size of the sessions and respites are kept relatively small to offer the best care and experience for each camper.

Located at 5804 Correctionville Road, registration is underway for Camp High Hopes spring and summer weekend sessions, as well as day camps and sleep-away.
