Another Northwest Iowa gas station is offering E15. Popke's, Inc. in Rock Rapids is just the fifth station in the state to sell the blend of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline.
The EPA says E15 is safe for model year 2001 and newer cars, trucks and SUVs, but sales of the fuel are still very limited. The Iowa Department of Agriculture offers grants to retailers to help cover the cost of installing blender pumps to offer E-15 and other blends of ethanol.
Popke's, Inc. Owner Greg Popke says his business believes in supporting Iowa's farmers and growing the local economy.
Little Sioux Corn Processors in Marcus, Iowa received a grant in 2011 to install blender pumps.
