Police chase starts in Sioux City and ends near Beresford, SD

An Illinois woman is hospitalized after a police chase that started in Sioux City and ended near Beresford, South Dakota.

Police say it started around 4:45 a.m. Thursday in the Morningside neighborhood.

Officers tried to stop the female driver for a minor traffic violation, but when she wouldn't stop, police ended the pursuit.

Police tried to stop her again after she hit two curbs downtown.

Police say the woman got on Interstate 29 heading north.  They say the woman went over three tire deflation devices.  Union County Sheriff Dan Limoges says she was down to just the two back tires before the pursuit ended near Beresford.

The driver, whose name isn't being released, was taken to a Vermilion hospital for an evaluation.

No charges have been filed.
