SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

After 40 years two Siouxland war veterans received the medals they earned.

Phillip Gregg of Lawton, Iowa joined the Navy and served in the Vietnam War.

He served as a scene leader and hull technician in the engineer section of the USS Blue Ridge.

Congressman Steve King presented Gregg with the five medals for this service this afternoon.

"Some how they disappeared, so I appreciate a lot that Senator King got them, so I can hand them down to my children," said Gregg.

Congressman King also presented another veteran with his medals.

Richard Plueger of Sioux City served in Vietnam for over a year.

While overseas, his job was to run ammo and other supplies for the US Navy.

Plueger says he is glad his family was able to attend Thursday's ceremony.

"It was great to have the whole family here. All the boys, and all the daughters, and all the grand kids and great-grand kids. It's wonderful," said Richard Plueger.

King presented Plueger with three medals and one ribbon.
