Iowa's bid to win the NIT championship fell short on Thursday night as the Hawkeyes lost to Baylor, 74-54, at Madison Square Garden.
Iowa's only lead of the game was at 2-0. The Hawkeyes trailed 27-22 at halftime and quickly fell behind by double digits in the second half.
Freshman Mike Gesell, of South Sioux City, led Iowa with 13 points and sophomore Aaron White added 12. Iowa had a poor shooting night, making just 26% of their shots from the field including 5 of 24 three-point shots.
Baylor made 53% of their shots. Cory Jefferson led all scorers with 23 points and Pierre Jackson added 17.
Iowa ends the season with a 25-13 record, while the Bears finish 23-14.
