The Sioux City Musketeers scored five goals in the third period to beat the Tri-City Storm, 8-1, on Friday night. It was Sioux City's ninth win in their last 13 games. The victory moved the Musketeers out of last place in the Western Conference for the first time in months.
Michael Kapla got the scoring started with a goal four minutes into the game. It was tied 1-1 after one period.
Conor McGlynn and Trevor Olson scored second period goals to put Sioux City in front 3-1. Jake Guentzel assisted on Olson's goal to run his scoring streak to 18 straight games.
Guentzel would score twice in the first four minutes of the third period to give the Muskies a four goal advantage. Guentzel now leads Sioux City with 27 goals and 41 assists. Christian Lampasso also score twice in the third period before McGlynn added his second tally to provide the final margin.
Sioux City (21-29-11) will host Fargo on Saturday at 7:05 in the final home game of the season. Sioux City will close the season with two road games in Fargo on April 12th and 13th.
