Day camp brings Siouxland kids closer to nature

With warmer weather quickly approaching, kids will have a chance for some hands-on nature activities.

The Woodbury County Conservation Board will host their annual day camp at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center.

The camps are designed to encourage hands-on learning through outdoor explorations.

They're open to kids ages 3 to 15.  Activities include hiking, experiments, games and more.

The camps are led by the naturalist staff, who hope to teach campers about wildlife living right in their backyard.

"We love all these nature programs, but they're usually about animals that live half way across the world. So, it's really interesting for kids to learn about what's in their own backyard," said Theresa Kruid, Naturalist.

General registration begins April 10th.  The cost includes a t-shirt, refreshments and supplies.
