Beef end Bandits 31-game winning streak with 2OT win

Sioux City is now 3-1 on the season. Sioux City is now 3-1 on the season.

Renewing their I-29 rivalry, the Omaha Beef picked up right where they left off in 2010, winning their ninth straight game over the Sioux City Bandits 32-26 in double-overtime Sunday afternoon.

The win snaps the Bandits 31-game winning streak, and drops Sioux City to 3-1 on the season.  The Beef move to 3-0.

Trailing 26-20 with less than a minute to play in the game, the Beef scored to tie the game up at 26, but missed the extra point to take the lead.

Sioux City drove down to the one-yard line on its ensuing possession, but was held out of the end zone.

After no scoring in the first OT, the Beef scored on its first possession of the second.

James McNear led Omaha with 41 yards rushing and threw for 187 yards and five touchdowns.

For Sioux City, John Bentley paved the way on the ground with 53 yards and two scores.

Quarterback Scott Jensen was sacked four times and threw for only 81 yards and a touchdown.

Sioux City is on the road at Salinas on April 12.
