Two Siouxland schools are getting new pieces of technology thanks to a recent contest
Store managers from Norfolk's HyVee locations presented new SmartBoards to Battle Creek Elementary School and Trinity Lutheran School in Hoskins Tuesday morning.
The schools were the winners of HyVee's annual Smart Points promotion, that allows shoppers to buy Proctor and Gamble products and allocate points to the schools of their choice.
HyVee officials said during the presentation in Hoskins this is the third straight year that Trinity Lutheran has won a SmartBoard, while Battle Creek Elementary won for the first time.
Store officials say the opportunity for smaller schools to get technology they may not be able to afford otherwise gets the students involved.
"People are getting a little bit more competitive with it every year. It's a great program and just to see their eyes light up when they get another SmartBoard," Tim Bruzek, HyVee General Manager said.
Store officials also presented i-Pads to the individual students at each school that accumulated the most points during the contest.
This the fourth year that Norfolk's HyVee has given the SmartBoards to area schools.
