More than two inches of hail falls in northeast Nebraska

NORFOLK, NE. (KTIV/US92) -

It's was almost like a combination of winter, spring and summer weather moving through northeast Nebraska Tuesday afternoon.

Severe thunderstorms swept across the region starting at about 2:30 p.m., bringing thunder, lightning, sleet, snow and hail to the area.

Some have reported as much as two and a half inches of hail fell around Madison.

In Norfolk, around an inch of hail fell to the ground, with some hail stones as wide as an inch and a quarter in diameter.

Driving conditions are slick all over the place.

Authorities say there have been numerous reports of cars in ditches along Highway 81 in between Norfolk and Madison.
