SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

A not guilty plea for a Sioux City man charged after police say he assaulted a man and then held police at bay for more than nine hours.

Francisco Bayona-Fonseca, 26, is charged with criminal mischief and aggravated assault.

Authorities say he got into a fight with another man in the 1900 Block of Pierce Street.

They say Bayona-Fonseca stabbed a man in the face with a metal object.

After that, police say he got into a fight with his ex-girlfriend and used a metal bar to damage her car.

Hours later he went into a home on Helen Street armed with a gun and held a standoff with police.

After several hours, police entered the home and got him out.

A trial has been set for May.
