Hundreds are still without power in Lyon County

LARCHWOOD, Iowa (KTIV) -

Crews continue to make progress on power outages that have left hundreds in the dark following ice, and snow, in the last 48-hours.

The rural electric co-op, that covers Lyon County, says there are still about 650 of its members without power, Thursday morning.

Many are in the town of Larchwood.

Crews from co-ops in Woodbury, Plymouth, Monona and Crawford counties have arrived to help put power lines, and power poles, back up, and get power back on.

Still, co-op officials say it could be Saturday before power is restored to everyone in Lyon County.

In Sioux County, a spokesperson for the Northwest Rural Electric Co-op says power was restored to everyone, last night.

But, overnight snow, on top of a coating of ice, weighed down power lines causing some to break.

Several hundred customers are "in the dark" Thursday morning.

Crews don't know when power will be restored.
