Is there a crack in Gavins Point Dam?

A viewer shot the video above, Sunday, at the dam near Yankton, South Dakota. Water was shooting out from one of the floodgates.

The Army Corps of Engineers manages the facility. They say there's no crack, but age has gotten the better of a rubber seal on this gate, and it's leaking.

Officials say it's nothing to worry about.

"It's wear and tear on the rubber seals. It happens with time. We've know about it since fall of 2012, and it is scheduled for repair," said Gavins Point Operations Project Manager David Becker with the Army Corps.

Becker says the dam's floodgate seals are about 30-years-old. He says they're scheduled to be replaced over the next two years.
