SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Frustration and surprise only begin to describe the emotions for Argosy Casino employees, when they learned the Hard Rock would be the new casino in town.

"Little bit of shock at first," said Danny Manchester, a 15-year Argosy veteran.

"Well, I'm sad to see that because there's a lot of good people down there and they're going to be out a job," said Richard Cobb, a part-time Argosy employee.

Because of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission's decision, more than 300 workers are left to wonder what's next for them.

"It's going to be a hard blow to them, I know that," said Cobb.

"I was surprised, having to start all over again, it's not good," said Jon Mouw, a 12-year veteran at Argosy.

The reality of the decision caught many of the employees off guard, as they waited to be shuttled to work.

"Yeah, I was really surprised, actually. I thought we were going to win," said Mouw.

"We've been here in the community for quite a few years, and a good rapport with the city, so it was a little upsetting," said Manchester.

For employees who make the transition to the Hard Rock, some believe they'll lose their seniority status and benefits. Some wonder if the transition will even be possible.

"I don't know if that will be an option or not. Right now, it's just day by day until we figure out what's going on," said Manchester.

"If the pay is good, I don't see why not," said Mouw.
