Yotes battle to 28-28 tie in Spring Game

VERMILLION, SD (KTIV) -

Quarterback Josh Vander Maten ran for two touchdowns and runningback Jasper Sanders threw for score as the University of South Dakota's offensive and defensive squads battled to a 28-28 tie in the team's Spring Game.

Vander Maten threw for 112 yards and ran for 17.

Tyler Starr led the defensive unit, totaling six tackles and two sacks.

"We didn't scheme much but when we had the right guys on the field they moved the ball and on defense when the right guys were on the field they stoned," Head Coach Joe Glenn said following the spring game.

USD opens the season August 31, against UC Davis.
