UPDATE: The name is released of a person who was killed in late night crash in Monona County


59-year-old Albert Butler is dead following a crash in rural Mapleton last Saturday night.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2004 Ford F250 pickup was traveling on a curve down Highway 141, just south of Pecan Avenue around 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Authorities say the vehicle failed to complete the curve and drove into the right shoulder, then overcorrected, lost control, and rolled into the ditch.

Butler was transported to Mercy Medical Center and later died of his injuries.

44-year-old Judith Krohn, was also transported to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

State patrol is still investigating the crash and working to determine the identity of the driver.

They say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
