SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

This isn't the kind of weather most like to be out in, let alone go for a run in. But 25 brave souls laced up their sneakers for a good cause.

Peak Performance and the Missouri River Runners held a 5-K event at the Explorer's Ball Park.

It's part of a nationwide fundraiser for the Boston Marathon victims, put on by the Independent Running Retailers Association.

It's just one way Siouxlanders can give back to those in need.

"We felt like we were obligated to. We're going to support runners and that's one thing that goes on in the running community is runners support runners," said Jim Ewoldt, Peak Performance owner.

All proceeds and donations for the event will go to "The One Fund Boston," which supports the victims of the tragedy who may not be covered by insurance.
