Volunteers needed to pitch in and clean up Sioux City litter

Volunteers do make a difference and when it comes to picking up trash, the more the merrier.

The city of Sioux City is teaming up with the Center For Siouxland and the Siouxland Volunteer Center to clean up litter.

As part of National Volunteer Week, volunteers are encouraged to help with organized litter clean-ups in eleven areas around the city.

The first is Thursday, April 25 from 5:30 to 7:00pm. The second event is being held on Saturday, April 27 from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

For both events, volunteers are asked to check-in at the Long Lines Family Rec Center a half hour in advance. Check-in will take place at 5:00pm on Thursday and 8:30am on Saturday.

That's where locations will be divided up and bags and gloves will be handed out.

Litter pickup will take place along the Perry Creek Trail, Outer Drive, Transit Avenue, Riverside Blvd., Business 75, Singing Hills, Lincoln Way, Frelon Drive and S. Fairmount.
