Book sale raises money for Sioux City Public LIbrary

From science fiction to romance you'll find it all at the Book Lover's sale.

Dozens of volunteers are sorting and organizing thousands of books for the annual Friends of the Sioux City Public Library Book Sale. The nearly-new, and gently-used, books have been donated throughout the year. The book sale raises thousands of dollars each year for the library.

The money helps buy more copies of popular books, and fund projects like the summer reading program for kids. Kathy Kelly, Communications Specialist Sioux City Public Library, "the summer reading program is very near and dear to our hearts because it allows the children to maintain skills that they have learned over the school year and helping children become successful readers will give them a better chance at success in life," says Kathy Kelly, the communication specialist at the Sioux City Public Library.

You'll find the book sale at the Gordon Plaza clocktower, near the Hy-Vee, on Gordon Drive.

There is a preview to the sale that starts Friday night. The sale will be open a various times until Saturday, May 4th.

All hardcover books are $3. Recordings are also $3. Paperbacks are $2, and children's books are $1.
