Sibley-Ocheyedan's Leah Sievert was third in the 3,000 meters at the Drake Relays.
There are 14 hours of events scheduled for Friday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines. Thursday is a little quieter. It's the final day for the decathlon and heptachlor, plus the distance carnival takes place.
In the girls 3-thousand meters, two freshman finished one-two. Stephanie Jenks of Linn-Mar won in 9-minutes, 46 seconds. Fellow 9th-grader McKenzie Yanek of Pleasant Valley was second. Sibley-Ocheyedan Junior Leah Sievert was third.
Boys 32-hundred, sophomore Thomas Pollard of Gilbert, son of Iowa State Athletic Director Jamie Pollard, wins in 9-minutes, 10 seconds. Will Norris of Spirit Lake Park was 8th.
Northern Iowa senior Daniel Gooris became just the second man to win back-to-back decathlon titles. He won the 15-hundred to come from behind and win. Morningside's Andy Dougherty, from Moville, was sixth in the decathlon, setting a new school record for points.

Kiana Phelps of Kingsley-Pierson, Woodbury Central won the girls discus with a toss of 153 feet. MOC's Brook Jacobsma was third at 139 feet.
Okoboji's Dalton Syverson was seventh in the boys high jump, going 6'5".
In the girls long jump, Elizabeth Bohlmann of East was 7th and Ali Meister of Spencer was 8th.
