SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Siouxlanders are putting one foot in front of the other to help babies born prematurely.

The annual March of Dimes March for Babies walk took place downtown Saturday.  The organization is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.

The walk helps fund an organization committed to neo-natal care.

"The March of Dimes focuses on research for vaccines, and to help prevent premature babies," said the walk's chairperson, Paula Oehlerking.

The event is near and dear to KTIV chief meteorologist Ron Demers, who's son Patrick was born premature.

Ron emceed the event as hundreds of people pounded the pavement.
