SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Sioux City's police chief isn't the only one calling for Dean to turn himself in, so are his parents.

"I want to apologize to Mike McCormick and his family. I'm very sorry with what happened, what went down. We want to say we're very sorry to his family. I've known Mike for years, so I would plead out to my son that he would just turn himself in," said Lee Dean, father of Jamal Dean.

Tuesday night, the family of Jamal Dean addressed the media and asked for his return.

The family said no one else needs to get hurt and begged for Jamal to turn himself in.

Dean's aunt tried to stay positive by saying, "this can be fixed."

"We're going to stand by you. It's a terrible thing that's happened, but no one has died and just call one of the family members so we can help you get safe passage and so you can do the right thing," said Barbara Dean, Jamal Dean's aunt.

Dean is wanted on a charge of attempted murder for firing eight shots at police officer Kevin McCormick.
