Republican measure to fund Highway 20 is defeated

MOVILLE, Iowa (KTIV) -

The Democratically controlled Iowa Senate has narrowly defeated a Republican measure to fund the four-lane expansion of Highway 20 in northwest Iowa.

The $25-million amendment sought to widen the highway between Correctionville and Moville.

Among the bill's sponsors were senators Rick Bertrand of Sioux City, Bill Anderson of Pierson and Mark Segebart of Vail, all Republicans.

Highway 20 has been widened to four lanes all the way across Iowa, except for 43 miles between Early and Moville.
