SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

As the search for Jamal Dean continues, the money spent to do it piles up.

The Sioux City Finance department says searches like the one for Jamal Dean are expensive, but the exact dollar amount hasn't been tallied yet.

But despite the cost, Assistant City Manager Bob Padmore doesn't expect the Sioux City Police Department will go over budget.

If they do, however, Padmore says the city would help them out.

"The city does carry a fund balance, which we would then tap in to, to offset the cost that they might have over-budget," said Bob Padmore, Sioux City Assistant City Manager.

Padmore says it isn't uncommon for the police department to tap into its overtime budget.
