Defense files its closing argument in Ashley Cameron murder case

ONAWA, Iowa (KTIV) -

The defense has filed paperwork to present its closing argument to a judge in the murder trial of an Onawa, Iowa woman.

Ashley Cameron is accused of drowning her 15-month-old son, Markis Dahms.

Prosecutors say she held his face under a bathtub faucet until he died.

In court documents, filed today, Cameron's defense attorney Mike Williams said while Cameron is guilty of neglecting her child, she's not guilty of first-degree murder.

Williams admits Cameron left the toddler in the bathtub alone.

Williams writes, it's possible the child had a seizure that caused him to drown.

A judge is expected to rule in this case in the next 60 days.
