The Sioux City East and Bishop Heelan girls soccer teams are both ranked in the top five in the state. The Black Raiders are third in Class 2A and the Crusaders are second in Class 1A. After being postponed three times, they finally met on Thursday afternoon.

East bringing in a 7-1 record, while Heelan was 5 and 0.

Crusaders wasted little time scoring. Just 40 seconds into the game, Heelan was on the attack when Sam Tymkowicz gets just enough and squeaks one in. Crusaders took a 1-0 lead.

Later in the 1st after East was called for the hand ball in the box, the Crusaders were awarded a penalty kick. Goalie Deianaira Felts came up with the diving save and it stays a 1-0 game.

Felts had a good game in net for East, also stopping a corner kick to keep it one goal game at halftime.

But Heelan goalkeeper Haley Nelson only allowed one goal and Heelan goes on to win 2-1.
