SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

The Iowa Speedway race schedule doesn't begin for another month, and while he's now ventured into the world of racing, former Iowa basketball standout Bobby Hansen still keeps an eye on the Hawkeyes.

Currently, three metro athletes will be returning to the hardwood in Iowa City.

Sioux City's Zach McCabe, Adam Woodbury and South Sioux City's Mike Gesell led the Hawkeyes to 25 wins and to a runner-up finish in the NIT.  They've all impressed Hansen.
Also from Sioux City is assistant Coach Kirk Speraw, who has spent four years with the Hawkeyes.

"Hawkeye fans are forever indebted to the great folks of Sioux City and South Sioux City, Nebraska with Mike Gesell.  He was phenomenal as a freshman and Adam Woodbury and Sioux City's East finest," Hansen said. "Zach, I remember him as a 12th grader down at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines watching him play and he has carved out a great career at the University of Iowa. And, we've got a coach Kirk Speraw from Sioux City North who does a great job along side Fran McCaffery. We couldn't do it without Sioux City."

The I-Club Banquet is Monday in Sioux City and will feature men's basketball coach Fran McCaffery, wrestling coach Tom Brands and former Iowa defensive coordinator Norm Parker.
The social hour begins at 5:30 at the Sioux City Convention Center.
