TAMA COUNTY (KWWL) -

A Gladbrook-Reinbeck school bus and a truck hauling livestock collided Monday afternoon in rural Tama County.

KWWL crews reporting from the scene say the crash happened at the corner of Highway 96 and County Road T-55 in rural Tama County between a bus and a pickup truck hauling a trailer. That trailer was holding livestock.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck superintendent Tim Kuehl said the bus was headed to Reinbeck to pick up a soccer team and no one was on the bus except the bus driver.

The driver reportedly was taken to the hospital, but Kuehl said his injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.

It was unclear who was in the other vehicle, what their conditions were, how the accident occurred or how much damage either vehicle sustained.

The Tama County Sheriff's Office declined to release further information as of Monday afternoon.
