Warner: Work on Hard Rock Casino to start in July

In two months crews will break ground on Sioux City's newest casino.

Monday night, Sioux City Entertainment President Bill Warner updated it's new non-profit, Missouri River Historical Development, on the timeline for the project.

The new $119 million Hard Rock Casino and Hotel will go up on the Battery Building site at 3rd and Water Streets.

The design boards showcase what the casino will look like. But crews are now working on the finer details, including the interior.

The goal is to start construction this July and be ready for customers a year later, in July of 2014.

"It's everybody working incredibly hard to make sure this project gets done the way we presented it and on the timeline we presented," said Bill Warner, Sioux City Entertainment President.

Warner says he'll provide updated interior designs at the next MRHD meeting.

Last month, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission awarded Woodbury County's gaming license to Sioux City Entertainment over current riverboat owner Penn National Gaming and Ho-Chunk Incorporated.
