The annual Shrine Circus will hold performances Monday and Tuesday evenings in Waterloo before heading to Iowa City Wednesday and Thursday.
This traditional three-ring circus benefits the Shriners' children's hospitals, touting the classic lion tamers, acrobats, clowns and elephants. The circus features various dance performances and some unique acts as well like a Chinese porcelain bowl balancer. Audience members were also given the opportunity to ride elephants, ponies and camels during intermission.
The circus continues with performances at Waterloo's McElroy Auditorium Tuesday at 4:30 and 7 p.m. before heading to Iowa City's Johnson County 4-H Fairgrounds for shows Wednesday and Thursday.
