Young: "We'll learn from this ordeal"

Sioux City police chief Doug Young issued a statement thanking the public for its support during the manhunt for Jamal Dean.

In a statement posted to the department's Facebook page, Young thanked the public for their thoughts and prayers for Officer Kevin McCormick. He's the cop, investigators say, was shot by Jamal Dean during a routine traffic stop. McCormick will make a full recovery.

Young also insisted his department will "get through this ordeal."   He says the department will learn from it, and "make every effort to ensure it does not happen again."
