Hyperion Energy lets go of all land in Union County, SD


Hyperion Energy Center has officially released all of it's land option in Union County, South Dakota.

That's according the Register of Deeds office in Elk Point.

They say last week, the final 24 pieces of land that were publicly recorded, were let go.

On March 15th the air quality permit, which state officials granted to the company, expired.

The plan was for Hyperion to build a $10-billion green energy center.

But ,dirt never turned on the project.

In a statement by Hyperion spokesperson, Eric Williams says the company is still examining whether to apply for an extension of their air permit.

He goes on the say the company continues to "explore our alternatives for moving forward in Union County."
