SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Let your light shine. Decorating luminary bags for the American Cancer Society's "Relay For Life" has begun.

Next month, hundreds of bags will hold a candle, and line Memorial Field in Sioux City for those battling cancer, or who have lost the fight.

The bags are $10 each and decorated by family, friends, or the relay committee.

On June 14th, those bags go to Mercy Medical Center and Unity Point Health-St. Luke's, for those fighting the deadly disease.

The money raised will go to research to help find a cure for cancer.

"There's always a need to find a cure for cancer. And without the money, there's no research and there would never be a cure," said Linda Herfel, Relay For Life Committee Member.

Local businesses are also supporting the event. Caribou Coffee will have a "survivor tent" at the relay to provide beverages.

"Become a part of our community and to reach out and to work with other people and to help them in their endeavors," said Jennifer Anderson, Caribou Coffee store manager.

The "Relay For Life" is June 14th at Memorial Field from 5 to midnight, with the survivor lap at 6.
