Correctionville, IA grocery store celebrates grand opening

After a fire destroyed a Correctionville, Iowa, grocery store, a new and improved store is entering its fourth successful month.

The Mercantile Grocery Store officially opened January 30th of this year, but held its grand opening last weekend.

Since it re-opened, business and support from the community has grown. Before the new store, shoppers had to travel to Sioux City, or Cherokee, to buy groceries. "They can come in here, they can get stuff fresh, and that's been a really big driving point behind the community support around here," said Owner Mark McCrea.

The grocery store is family owned and has about 10 employees.

McCrea says they're also looking forward to selling more local products. He even has open shelf space if customers have specific requests.
