"Future phases will come back and remodel current offices, labs, and classrooms for future growth in the sciences," said Erik Hoekstra, Dordt College President.

The two-story addition will connect the current science building to the classroom building.

The expansion will include faculty offices, technology-enabled classrooms, and computer learning labs. The new engineering wing will have labs for mechanics and solar energy engineering.

A modern greenhouse will serve agriculture and biology.

The nursing program will get a skills laboratory added to the current building.

"The sciences right now are experiencing tremendous growth, and so to have great facilities so students can be well prepared to serve God in sciences, is why this project is going ahead," said Erik Hoekstra, Dordt College President.

The expansion could open in the fall of 2014.
