Sioux City has to cut the roster down to 22 players after 10 games.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The Sioux City Explorers wrapped up their exhibition schedule with an impressive 13-1 victory over Lincoln in their spring training finale.
Overall, the X's went 2 and 2 in exhibition games.
Now, the evaluation and roster cuts process begins.
The X's brought 27 players into spring training but have to cut the roster down to 23 by Tuesday's noon deadline. After the first 10 days of the regular season, one more player will be cut from the team, per league rules.
"You know, it's going to be a tough decision, it really is," Manager Stan Cliburn said. "I'll be on the phone the next couple of days trying to find jobs for the guys that are not going to make this club. They're all great young men. If they don't make it this time around, hopefully and go play somewhere and we'll know where they are and we'll call them back when we need them."
The X's open the season Thursday at home against Sioux Falls. First pitch is set for 7:05.
